Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. students will have another chance to take the pledge and GO Forward with their education.

This fall, GO Forward was started in an effort to raise graduation rates across the University of Hawaii Community College System, Merrissa Brechtel, student service specialist, wrote in an email correspondence.

So far, more than 600 students have taken the pledge to attend classes, get good grades, check their UH email daily and talk to instructors if they are having difficulties. This pledge was also created to help bring awareness to the resources students have on community college campuses.

The first pledge day was on Sept. 5, but students haven’t missed out.

“We plan to keep this initiative alive throughout the year and have events at least once a month…” Brechtel wrote.

Students can look for another drive, or pledge day at the beginning of the Spring 2014 semester.

“We want students to know that KCC, faculty, staff and administration are here to support them and that we are vested in their success,” Brechtel wrote. “If they’re able to complete their degree, it will help them with their career aspirations.”
