Ho‘okipa will be having its annual fundraising event tomorrow.
Ho`okipa is a fundraising event for students in the Kapi’olani Community College culinary arts and hospitality and tourism programs. Culinary and hospitality and tourism students work closely with their instructors to make this event happen.
“Hoʻokipa raises $80,000 to $100,000,” said Kawehi Sellers, a KCC hospitality and tourism instructor.
Ho`okipa is an annual event that was started in 1995. In addition, it has been held at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel since 2000. More than 400 culinary and hospitality students will partake in Hoʻokipa.
Individual tickets range from $100 to $300 for a reserved seating on the lawn, and a table reserved for 10 people with a gourmet sit-down dinner with wine pairing at $3,000, $5,000, or $10,000.
Chef Robin Lee is this year’s Ho`okipa Night’s honored guest chef. Lee is a head chef at Nobu Waikiki and a 2006 graduate of Kapi’olani Community College’s culinary arts program.
Although tickets for the event are now sold out, you can still support KCCʻs culinary and hospitality and tourism programs by dining at 220 Grille and Ka ‘Ikena.
