Throughout the past year, you may have noticed ongoing renovations to the Kōpiko building.

During that time, the facilities received a facelift and have been upgraded. Five classrooms, two multipurpose rooms and a computer lab have been revamped to better accommodate students.

But, only part of the building will be ready for use in the fall semester. Not all the furniture has been received yet, therefore the rooms aren’t completely set up.

According to Estelle Ogawa, the department chair of the Business Legal and Technology Department, the rest of the furniture is scheduled to arrive in late October.

As of now, the new areas of Kōpiko will be used for some classes. The rest of the classes, as well as the lab, will continue to be held in the Māmāne building.

Unfortunately, the Kapi‘o was unable to obtain photos of this new center because during the time the paper was scheduled to go to print, Kōpiko didn’t have its permit for occupancy, according to Gordon Man, the auxiliary and facility services officer.

This meant no one could enter the premises unless they had special authorization, standard safety measures.

Kōpiko is scheduled to be fully up and running in time for the spring semester, Ogawa said per phone interview.

If you’re interested in seeing a preview of the new Kōpiko building, stop by and take a peek at the classrooms that are fully furnished to get a general idea.
