In a ceremony that took place in Stan Sheriff center on Monday, Jan. 9, Governor Neil Abercrombie officially honored the Rainbow Wahine Volleyball Team by proclaiming Jan.9 “University of Hawaiʻi Rainbow Wahine Volleyball Team Day.”
The team was also undefeated in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) making the 16th consecutive title win in program history. The team also qualified for the NCAA tournament for the 30th time and also went to the third round of the Division I Championship Tournament.
Not only did the Wahine Volleyball team rank second in the national winnings and hitting percentage, but led in attendance with 6,814 people per game, according to an article posted on hawaiinewsnow.com
