Something about Pinterest brings out the overly confident crafter in me. I like to believe that if I really wanted to, I would be able to do anything I put my mind to. Pinterest leads me to believe that I can make DIY magic with a simple how-to list from a fellow pinner and a pile of common household items. In this weeks Top 10, I compiled the funniest examples of how terribly wrong a project can go when we try to get crafty.
10. Hair bow
A hair bow is a classy and cute hair style for any occasion, but perfect hair does not come easy. By rule of thumb, this pinner should had known that a girls hair will do the exact opposite of what she wants.
9. Chipmunk glove
This one is only a borderline fail. It fails because it doesn’t look identical to what the pinner aspired it to be, but I don’t think that the result looks to bad. I actually think it’s cute, in a awkward, adorable way. Sometimes personal touches are a good thing. This pinner knows for certain their chipmunk glove is one of a kind.
8. Melted Crayon art
It is definitely a good thing for adults to embrace their inner child, to do some cartwheels in the grass, or sip on a juice box. One could use art as a medium, to express what they’re feeling inside. I think it’s safe to say that this time, the pinner should have left the crayons with the kids.
7. Vanilla cake with Blackberry cream
Unfortunately, this pinner wasn’t aware that bakers are infamous for making the impossible look easy. So many times I have opted for store bought cakes, because my home made version looks like a blob of icing and crumbs. Their cake may look unappetizing, but with all that frosting I’m sure it still makes for a sweet treat.
6. Marbled nails
This pinner wasn’t aware that nails salons exist for this exact reason. Finger nail painting is an art that many of us have not mastered. So, every couple of weeks we pay someone to do it for us.
5. Mixed color crayon shapes
Before starting any project, a pinner should always read the warning labels on their supplies. Regrettably this pinner was not aware that “Do not put in an oven, or microwave” is actually written in the Crayola Consumer Craft Safety Guide.
4. Chocolate Peanut Butter in a mug
It’s sterotypical that college students depend on their microwaves. My microwave is in constant use, boiling water and heating up last nights dinner. Unless you want to be scrapping burnt chocolate off your favorite mug, I would advise the use of an oven when baking.
3. Hanging string ball
I am always looking for new cheap ways to decorate my house. This pinner did not achieve the elegant living room decoration they hoped for. But, thanks to them I now know how I will be making the spiderwebs for this years haunted house.
2. Baby photo
My parents have a dedicated shoe box to all the blooper photos of me as a child. There are photos of me crying or looking the other way. Adults should already know that babies are the hardest subjects to work with. Babies can’t care and don’t care what they look like on photos. Not only did these pinners end up with less than perfect photos, but now their babies are forever traumatized by Christmas lights.
1. S’mores personal roasting station
I thought this was a great idea for barbecuing with friends. Especially if you donʻt have large yard, or a fire pit. I came across this earlier, and thought about trying it myself. That is until I happened upon this pinner’s picture. I have to say that I am really disappointed this didn’t work. I feel sympathy for this pinner. Now they have to deal with more than just bruised egos.
