Spots are still available in the TRIO program for KapCC students. TRIO is a federal funded program that provides special services to students who are eligible. Applying students must be one of the following: low income, disabled, first generation college student in the family.Along with being at least one of the three, students must be attending school full time and place in English 22 or higher.
TRIO offers students specialized services for up to four years. Services include: academic advising, tutoring, peer mentoring.
Select students may even get the chance to earn grant aids. Interested students may inquire for detailed information online at http://kcc.hawaii.edu/object/trio-sss.html, or at their office located in ‘Iliahi 113. In order to apply students must obtain an application from their office. Once the application is submitted, students will be required to make a follow up appointment with Brandon Chun, interim TRIO director.
“The program is extremely beneficial,” Michele Kather, nursing student and program participant said. “There is always someone here to help me.”
